Mississippi Gasoline and Special Fuel Returns Change Update

Mississippi requires all distributors of gasoline and diesel fuel to report to the Department monthly the total number of gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel sold to consumers and retailers in each municipality during the preceding month. This monthly filing is currently reported on the Distribution of Motor Fuels Schedule on the Sales Tax Return. The Distribution of Motor Fuels Schedule will be removed from the Sales Tax return and added to the Gasoline and Special Fuel Tax accounts as a separate return. Effective August 1, 2016, all distributors selling gasoline or diesel fuel to consumers and retailer are required to report the number of gallons distributed to each city on the Motor Fuel Distribution by City return.
